Radev: I call for reconsidering the possibility of direct supply of Russian gas to Bulgaria

22 May 2018 , 12:06Neftegaz.RU617

Moscow, May 22 - Neftegaz.RU. «I call on the governments of Bulgaria and Russia to consider once again the possibility of direct supply of Russian gas across the Black Sea to Bulgaria», President Rumen Radev told reporters during his visit to Moscow after meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Bulgarian Focus News Agency reported.

«First of all, the Bulgarian government should make the most of the positive momentum of this visit […] These meetings give an impetus and open up opportunities for the ministers to work on. I expect, and Prime Minister Medvedev has committed, that the 16th session of the intergovernmental committee on economic and scientific-technological cooperation, postponed for years, will be held in the autumn, most likely in September,» Radev said.

There the governments could consider all projects in detail and take decisions, he added.

«The security environment has become so complex that not only Bulgaria but also the EU is increasingly aware that it is best to have direct access to gas supply in a EU member state. I call on the 2 governments to reconsider once again the possibility of direct supply of Russian gas across the Black Sea to Bulgaria, of course, with the European Commission. Let’s take the Nord Stream as an example,» the president stressed.
