10 April 2003 , 12:06407
DaimlerChrysler is likely not to reach this year's profit forecast.
"Chrysler is fighting to achieve its $2.1bn operating profit target," the company said, but it is selfevident that the company due to the hard year will fail reaching its forecast.
The first three months in the US were "extremely difficult and competitive." In March, car sales at Chrysler fell 3% and it lost market share at the expense of foreign competitors.
This was despite a rise in US industry-wide sales for March, which rose to an annualised rate of 16.2m vehicles compared with expectations of 15.6m units.
