Gazexport Eliminates Disagreements

13 March 2001 , 09:07432
JSC Gasexport, subsidiary of Gazprom, and Public Gas Corporation DEPA of Greece have prolonged the contract about the gas supplies to Greece. In 2000 Gazexport supplied Greece with 1.6 bil cubic meters of gas, which is about 1% of the total volume of gas export to Russia. In January 2001 the volumes of gas supplies have not exceeded 0.2 bil cubic meters. The governmental agreement between two states had been signed in 1987, bur the project was delayed for a long time because of absence of the Greek gas transportation system. In winter 2000 there occurred a conflict between the partners, since the Greek party sued Gazexport for lack of supplies and the low quality of gas and the Russian company had to pay the surcharges last year. Now the company brings counter claims against DEPA. To eliminate all discrepancies Greek Minister of development had flown to Moscow in the beginning of March. The parties managed to agree upon the gas prices. All other issues have been left unsolved.
