Nigerian Insurgents' ExxonMobil Hostages Freed

23 October 2006 , 11:14611
Nigeria insurgents have freed seven foreign oil workers seized in an attack earlier this month on an ExxonMobil compound, a spokesman for the company said Saturday.

The seven were taken hostage October 3 during a raid on a residential compound housing ExxonMobil employees in the southern Niger Delta town of Eket. Two guards were killed by the attackers.

ExxonMobil spokesman Paul Arinze said Nigerian government officials informed the company Saturday that all the hostages - four Scottish oil workers, a Romanian, an Indonesian and a Malaysian - had been released.
